We strongly recommend you lubricate a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain. For clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure to set the open end of the clip opposite the chain drive direction. FJ type connecting link requires the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper installation. For rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely rivet the pin head. Follow the chain sag adjustment recommendations in the motorcycle owner’s manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10mm.


Before installing the new chain, consult your distributor/local dealer or check the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure compatibility with your motorcycle. Cut the old chain at its joint part and use the appropriate cutting tool if necessary. Fit the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly.
